Subtitling combines translation with the practical limits of the screen. I prepare Brazilian Portuguese subtitle content around the source video, the audience and the agreed format. The scope can cover translation of an existing timed file, subtitle editing or a fuller workflow with timing and review. We establish that scope from the source assets before confirming the project.
Brazilian Portuguese subtitles that are readable on screen
Subtitles give viewers a limited amount of time to read while watching the image. I focus on meaningful phrasing, sensible line breaks and consistency, while preserving the important information and tone of the source.
The right decisions depend on the material. An interview, a tutorial and a fast-paced brand video create different challenges. The video context helps determine what to retain, how to condense and where a line should break.
Define subtitle files, source assets and timing requirements
You may already have a transcript and accurate timestamps, or you may only have the video. Those starting points involve different work. I check the available assets and clarify transcription, translation, timing and review responsibilities.
The handoff can use an agreed SRT or VTT format. If you have a platform style guide, speaker labels or other accessibility requirements, share them before production so those conventions can be included in the scope.
Review subtitles with the actual video
A translated subtitle file can look acceptable in a document and still be difficult to follow during playback. The agreed review should consider timing, segmentation, names, terminology and the relationship between text and image.
If the video or source edit changes after translation, the subtitle file may need another alignment pass. We agree which version of the video is final and how later changes will be handled.
What you receive
- Brazilian Portuguese subtitle translation or editing
- Readable segmentation and line breaks for the agreed specifications
- Timing work when included in the defined scope
- An agreed SRT, VTT or bilingual review handoff
- Playback-oriented checks against the supplied final video
How we work together
1. Check the assets
Send the video, transcript or timed file and platform requirements. We identify which subtitling stages the project needs.
2. Translate and format
I develop the Brazilian Portuguese subtitles with attention to meaning, reading flow, terminology and the agreed conventions.
3. Review in context
The subtitle content is checked against the final source video within the agreed scope, then delivered in the required format.
